This paper concretizes the idea of transfer of RE knowledge through a research story. The author reports on his own experiences as a “teacher educator in residence” in a secondary school in Belgium with the concept of “RE-searchers” that he learned from colleagues at the University of Exeter in the UK. Based on the concepts of religious literacy, agency and integrity of the learner, and school identity, he describes his findings close to his own practice and compares them with the insights of colleagues in the UK and with broader theoretical perspectives in Europe.
